Take a Stand 2012

Who will you Stand for in 2012

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”

Romans 13

I’ve never really been too big into politics, so I guess you can imagine that I really dislike election time. Now, don’t get me wrong, the election is VERY important, and I think it is very important that we all vote, but I don’t like what it does to everyone.

It is battle in every aspect of the word. Republican versus democrat, this law versus that law, he did this but he did that, when does it stop?

November 6th!

The party or law you choose may not win, you might not get your way…

I understand that people are passionate about what they feel, but God’s people should be spending more time with Him about who and what to vote for, then trying to convince everyone else what is right or wrong.

It is so important that we all do our homework and really understand who and what we are voting for, but more importantly we need to ask ourselves, WHO do we stand for and WHO are we fighting for?

No matter how the election turns out our battle is still the same. At the finish line who is in control? Who is left standing when we are all too weak to keep fighting? Who has even given us the freedom to make a choice in the first place?

I stand for Christ. No matter who wins, I still put my faith in Him.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I just hate all the fighting while trying to convince others your side is right.

God loved us so much He gave us the freedom to make a choice. If God's people are making choices based on biblical principles then our choices are Christ centered and God directed.
When it is all over, in the end, God is in control! He allows us to make the choice and then I believe He will lead us from there. He allows everything to happen...
We have the freedom to make a choice and God should be guiding that choice through pray and direction.

Who do you stand for? Who are teaching your children to stand for, to respect? I want my children to know that God allows and appoints ALL kings and leaders and we will respect them no matter what. No matter how angry politics may make us, God can and will lead His people to His will, even if we don't understand it.

Romans 13 says, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”

As the election comes to an end and you head out to vote, just remember, Today is a gift from Him. No matter what our future holds, He will be there. We may be surprised, and we may or may not like how certain things end up, but God is leading us if only we choose to follow.

Who do you stand for today?  Can we let go of the control we so desperately think we hold? Make a choice and give it to God.

Giving up control does not mean that we simply stand on the sidelines and wait for God to sweep us into His arms and flow blessings upon us. No, it simply means that we are giving Him the control to lead us; guide us, and direct us toward His will and not our own.

Who will choose today? Forever?

Pray for our nation today. Pray for America!!!

We need God more then EVER!!!

Letting Go

Her insides are bursting to be set free. Independence and freedom are practically calling Her name.

I can still remember taking her to daycare at the age of 2. She was the only child who quietly went in, sat down, and waved good-bye to mom without a single tear. She has been spunky and independent since the day she was born.  She has a sense of freedom and energy millions would  love to have.

I'm still trying to wrap my hand around the fact that my sweet little girl is not little anymore. Every day she is growing into a vibrant and beautiful young lady. She gets dressed on her own, fixes her hair, and her own breakfast.

This weekend she had another really big "first" in her life. She went away for the whole weekend on a youth middle school trip; without mom! She was excited....I was, well, a little nervous.

I have never seen her so excited. We packed her bags; actually, she had them packed by the time I got up stairs. We went through her check list and made sure she had everything she needed. She had snacks, a camera, money, and she was ready to go! I have never seen her this free....she was practically jumping out of the car.

It was so strange, and strangely quiet, all weekend without her here. I ask my husband at one point if he thought she was ok. I think I knew in my heart that she was more than ok.  I began to question everything  we have ever taught her. Will she use manners? Will she be kind? Can she pack and remember to get everything?

It was at that point that I could feel Christ reminding me; He is still there. He is guiding her and leading her even when I can't.

I was so excited to here all about her trip and how much fun she had. As I was telling her good night she ask me a question. She told me that her youth ministers wife was talking to them about having a quiet time with God and how important that really was. She ask me if I thought she should do that in the mornings and then listen to Christian music.... my heart leaped! I was excited that not only did she enjoy her weekend, but God really was working on her heart. He is molding her and shaping her into the young lady He wants her to be.

I am learning to let go a little more every day. As hard as it is to let her grow up, I'm also learning that Christ is growing with her, and I have nothing to fear.

Never Forget....

It was cold in the office that morning, and there was a stack of papers a pile high. I was feeling rather lazy as I sat cuddled up in my jacket. I was the only one on my side of the building that morning, and it was rather quiet and a little creepy.

I worked in a large warehouse at the time answering phones and doing other clerical type work. I had my radio on that morning while I was entering data into the computer;  in a drastic attempt to keep myself from falling asleep!

I have to admit; when the music was interrupted to broadcast that the first twin tower had been hit by a plane, I thought I was hearing things...or going crazy! I sat in awe as I continued to listen and quickly realized this was no joke.

My husband was at home with our sick one year old, and I felt scared, alone. I quickly made my way to the other side of the building where there was some form of human life and found everyone gathered in a conference room watching the twin towers live on T.V. It was about that moment that we all sat and watched the second plane hit.

My heard sunk. I was only 21 and could not help but wonder what this meant for our country, my family? Within the hour we were all sent home to be with our families. The whole country watched in fear as hundreds lost everything.

I look back now and I wonder how many people started the day just like me? Going to work and never dreaming that their whole world was going to change in the blink of an eye. We all live assuming that nothing bad will ever happen to us. Cancer, death, an accident.....we never expect the unexpected, but God knew.

God knows every step before we take it. He knows every fall before we fall. But if we never took a step, then we would never walk, and if we never fall then we could never get back up. Without falling we have nothing to learn from. We cannot live life waiting for the unexpected, but can live life prepared for it; armed for it.

So many willingly gave their life so that others could be free. Christ willingly gave His life so that we could be free, and yet so often we take that freedom for granted.

I believe that the true warriors in the face of tragedy are those who face it with peace. Those who fall to their knees in the midst of darkness and say, "God is in control."

9/11 changed our nation, but did it change our story? God is still the same today as He was then. I believe that those who are changed by 9/11 and any tragedy are those who are changed by the blood of Christ.

We will never forget 9/11, but...Never forget....that God already knew!
